In their truly inimitable style of production, @TheMcMashClan release their ‘Birds Sing’ EP on 26th May via @Circus_Records. One of the most dynamic and varied collections of work I’ve heard in a long time, the trio manage to incorporate a wealth of bass sounds into the EP and each track is a wonderfully unique musical journey.

I’m particularly taken in by the haunting ‘Requiem’ – which features vocals and string arrangement by Kate Mullins. A drawn out, eerie choral introduction gives way to an almighty D&B frenzy, a real masterpiece. The title track is a playful piece of Glitch Hop, with a good handful of reggae provided courtesy of the Late Day Breakers.

Dubstep legends Dodge & Fuski offer their remix services to ‘Jericho’ – which they bring down in tempo from the original and emphasise its brassy dance hall origins. Finally there is the distinctive, Trap-fused ‘Shadow Dance’ –bass shaking and dramatic.

Circus are a forward-thinking platform for bass music, and The McMash Clan seem to have found a great home to allow their unique sounds to breathe. ‘Birds Sing’ is explorative, fun and extremely listenable, be sure to grab a copy on the 26th May.
